Improvement of the Maritime Accessibilities to the Port of Leixões – Heritage Monitoring

Client: Future Proman

Architecture: -

Description: As part of the Improvement of the Maritime Accessibilities to the Port of Leixões project, InAcoustics monitored the “Forte de Nossa Senhora das Neves”, in Leça da Palmeira, a building classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1961. The work included the use of dynamic sensors, namely two triaxial seismographs with velocity reading, as well as the use of static sensors, such as a biaxial clinometer, three uniaxial fissurometers and a temperature sensor. The use of this equipment allowed the monitoring of vibrations at various points of the building, as well as monitoring gap / structural crack width, inclination of building elements, and also the evaluation of the thermal variation. The monitoring was carried out continuously, recording the maximum hourly and daily values recorded by each equipment, in order to supervise the possible occurrence of events with values equal to or greater than the respective established criteria. The procedures followed the Cultural Heritage Monitoring Programme provided for in the respective Environmental Impact Statement (EIA), as well as the applicable good practices and standardisation.

Services: Vibrations and structural damage monitoring.
